Having a chaotic day during a pivotal moment in your life is probably a good thing… although it didn’t feel good at the moment… this morning I had to clean up… put laundry away… make a floral arrangement for my neighbor (who likes to bring me home cooked Filipino food)… resign from being a teacher… pack my luggage… and make sure I made it to the airport on time… in one piece…a bit stressful to say the least…
Resign from being a teacher after teaching for 7 years? Yes… I did that this morning… I celebrated with a kiss from my husband… a hi-five to myself… and then I had 30 minutes to pack my luggage and leave for the airport…
I didn’t have time for this… this moment right now… where it all kind of hit me after reading all the sweet comments from my fellow teachers… this moment of reflection (and some tears)… realizing that I just quit teaching… when I told my principal — she said she knew it was coming… and even though I knew in my heart — that I didn’t want to continue working 2 full time jobs… it was harder for my brain to decide… because I felt that I wasn’t just deciding for me — this decision would impact my husband… and impact our lives… and I kept going back and forth… passion… practicality… back and forth… until my heart and my mind — finally agreed on a decision…
I told myself — you only live once… and life is too short!… so here I am… closing a chapter of my life, and welcoming a new one… as a full time professional photographer… I’ve been blessed having experienced 7 years of teaching in a wonderful school… with wonderful people… and now I’m blessed with new beginnings…
I know the road ahead is going to be a rough one… there will be good days… and there will be moments where I probably will wonder, “what was I thinking?”… but I know I’ll regret it — for the rest of my life… if I never gave it my all…
So, cheers to a future of smiles in front of my camera… to meeting new people… making new friends…and being able to do what I love!
“To me, photography is an art of observation… it’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place… I’ve found it has little to do with the thing you see… and everything to do with the way you see them…” -Elliott Erwitt |
