Me? In the morning? I’m like a tornado… well, that’s not quite accurate… let’s rewind to when the alarm goes off (the sound of harps echoing from my iPhone)… after hitting snooze about 3 to 4 times… then sluggishly crawling out from underneath the warmth of the blanket… I finally perk up after a luke-warm shower… THEN, only after the shower — am I like a tornado… I swirl around in my closet trying to figure out what to wear… then twirl back and forth, in and out of the bathroom to stand in front of the full length mirror in the hallway… then spin back into the bathroom to do my hair & make up… rushing…rushing…rushing…insuring I make it to work on time…

In the midst of the storm, my calm and collected husband… who only needs to hit snooze twice & only needs three minutes to get ready… wakes up casually… slowly…but  methodically… he makes breakfast for us… eggs with turkey sausage… his on a platter… mine in a to go container… then he makes me coffee (his specialty), also in a to go mug… after eating his breakfast, he sets aside my to go breakfast… waits for the tornado to swish through the kitchen… while spinning asking if my outfit is ok…”It’s nice, babe” he says… then kisses me goodbye… “have a good day”… and back to bed he goes as the morning storm dissipates out the door…

I realized today, I needed to slow down… and just simply thank my husband for his effortless morning duties… all to help me make a smooth exit, out the door… on time… and with a healthy breakfast… as Valentine’s day approaches, it’s a nice reminder to count our blessings… I’m counting all the ways my husband shows me he loves me… my husband… whom I’m so lucky to be with… my husband, who loves me… even as he weathers through my morning storms…
