New Year’s Resolution: 2011

I’m gonna be honest… I didn’t make New Year’s resolution for 2010… it was a crazy, hectic time… holiday season… traveling… planning our wedding… and making (what seemed like) a million DIY wedding projects… but I must say, without the resolution — there was no disappointment that entailed… and no added pressure to my life… I mean, I had enough going on…

But, this year I would like to join everyone in reflecting on the year ahead… and what goals I want for the upcoming year… goals I want to commit to… plus, not only am I writing down my resolution… but I’m putting it out for the world to see… so with the added pressure, I have to commit to it… because you know, I’d hate to disappoint you all =)

Well, here’s a list of random resolutions I’d like to work on…

1) Read more! I’m an avid reader… but as of late, I can’t really say I have been an avid reader… the last book I read was over the summer during travels when I actually had a moment to sit and read… but I miss being completely engulfed in a book… so this year, I will be making it a point to read more! And since we should challenge ourselves (while still being realistic), I’d like to read at least 2-3 books a month… (we’ll see)

2) Cook more! Again, I loveloveLOVE to cook… I just never have time… I come home from teaching, and I work at my home office until about 10-11 at night… this past year, I was lucky if I cooked twice during the week… Ok, ok…once during the week… (isn’t that sad?) My husband and I will go through cycles of going out to eat, or having take out, then cycles of cooking at home… the whole year felt like a cycle of not cooking at home… that’s pretty bad… If my husband and I took turns, I could try to cook 2-3 times a week… (again, we’ll see)

3) Not work in bed! I’m guilty of bringing my Mac to bed with me (like right now) and working until my husband is fast asleep… I’m going to shoot two resolutions in one and bring a book to bed instead of my work =) (starting January)

4) Ride my bike more often! Last year, my husband and I bought Electra Townies — awesome bikes!! Too bad we don’t make enough time for them… this year, I will ride my bike more often…

5) And because I don’t like completely symmetrical even numbers, here’s a fifth resolution… Take more pictures of us! I wanted to make a calendar for Dave to gift him for Christmas… as I looked through each month’s pictures — all I could find were photo sessions and weddings… there were hardly any of us… needless to say, I couldn’t make a calendar… so my final resolution is to take more photos of us, not just of our clients =)

There, short and sweet… I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful New Year! See you all in 2011!! And since a post isn’t a post without a picture… here’s a shot I took last week when I was in Michigan… may our 2011 be as breath taking as this winter horizon… Happy New Year!
