two words were exchanged… that changed our lives…forever… “I do”… Dave and I said– “I do”… then he kissed me — his bride… and we had an amazing wedding celebration with all our friends and family… here are some fun memorable moments of our wedding day — one year ago Sunday:

1) Seeing friends and family that flew in from all over the nation… and meeting family members I’ve never met before… that felt really special to having so many people there for us…

2) Me, crying… no… balling– down the aisle as soon as I saw my husband to be… all the calmness and coolness from the day totally escaped me, and all the emotions came pouring out…

3) Our first dance… as friends and family surrounded us… blowing bubbles… all we could hear were kids jumping up in the air and landing with a loud thud as our nephews tried to stomp out bubbles… then the slow realization that we never told our DJ to fade the song out after a couple of minutes… so our first dance lasted like – 5 minutes… which felt super loong (when you have a hundred people watching you)! lol

4) Cake cutting… one of our fondest memories… since I wanted a really tall cake, there was a faux layer made of styrofoam… when it came time to cut the cake — we had no idea what to do… everyone surrounded us, cheering and having a good time… we didn’t know where to cut, so we just chose a layer to cut into… and guess what? we found the styrofoam layer! Above the crowd’s cheers, Dave and I were laughing hysterically… telling each other that we would have to eat foam on our wedding day… but as we finished cutting through the hard styrofoam layer, we quickly cut through another layer — of actual cake — and we didn’t have to eat styrofoam…

5) Last dance… we didn’t want the night to end… as we embraced each other and tried to hold on to the last few moments of our wedding… our sweet Aunt Elle interrupted to let us know that she couldn’t leave without taking a picture with us… and she kept going on and on about missing the big group shot… until our cousin saved us, and whisked her away… we managed the last minute alone… in wedded bliss…

6) After the after hour wedding party… we finally made it to our hotel…completely exhausted…we sat in our hotel room…  me sitting between Dave’s legs, as he helped me pull out the million hair pins from my up-do… it was so sweet…

And after a year of being married, I still get excited when my husband comes home from work… I love falling asleep in his arms… his right arm in particular… I love waking up next to him… especially on days we get to sleep in and we get to cuddle a little longer… I love it when he holds my hand as we walk down the street… his strong yet gentle grasp around my hand… I love it when he smiles at me… and out of the blue, tells me he loves me… and I… love him… here’s to one year down… and a lifetime to go…
