It’s not often I get to play with my camera for the sake of playing… and yesterday, when my husband and I went for a bike ride, that is exactly what we did… we both brought our cameras for the sake of playing… and went on a photo walk, or in our case — a photo bike ride… And with a few of the images I captured, I thought it would be fun to share some simple tips when you’re out and about shooting…
1) Look for texture — or an interesting mix of textures. I like the contrast of the hard lines of the pier and the soft texture of the clouds…
2) Look for leading lines. These are lines in a photo that draw the viewer’s eye through a photograph…
3) Look for patterns. This was a simple pattern made of puddles from the rain earlier that morning…
These basic rules can be applied when shooting nature shots… or even portraits… as you can see below, I even use it in my wedding photography… Hope you enjoyed the tips!
